Name of facility Jozen-in temple
Overview It is a temple of Shingi Shingon sect and is called Tenyuzan Jozenin Shinshoji temple. It was founded by a person named Udagawa Izumo during the Genna period (1615-24). In the Edo period, when Tokugawa Shogunate visited this area to hunt with a falcon, this temple was designated as a dining place (resting place) for them at that time. The main hall was renovated from thatched roof to tiled roof in 1960, and the current main hall was newly built in 2021. The principal image is the standing statue of Fudo Myoo, and on the right of the hall, the sitting statue of Dainichi Nyorai in the center and the sitting statue of Amida Nyorai on the left are enshrined. In addition, the wooden sitting statue of Kobo Daishi and the tiled sitting statues of Kobo Daishi on both sides are enshrined in Daishi-do hall. This was made when tile making was once popular in the Nakagawa basin. Tetsugenban Daihannyakyo complete sutra book 600 volumes, which has been registered Adachi tangible cultural property, was completed in 1788 spending 4 years by contributions of believers in a wide area extending to Gamo and Kamihirai, and was dedicated to the temple. Rokumendo Rokujizo in the precincts built in 1708, where six Jizo were carved on each side of a hexagonal stone, is very rare in the city. The largest ginkgo in the city, is called a couple ginkgo since it has a forked trunk.
