Tempura Standing Bar Ren

Freshly fried tempura is their signature dish. They offer around 50 kinds of tempura, ranging from vegetables, seafood, and meats of guaranteed freshness to creative creations. For something a little different, we recommend the daikon radish tempura, which has been thoroughly soaked in dashi broth. They also occasionally offer tempura made with seasonal fruits such as watermelon and peach, and many people are captivated by the unexpected and surprising tempura.

Furthermore, to ensure that customers can enjoy themselves without getting bored even if they visit every day, the restaurant offers a wide variety of à la carte dishes and small side dishes featuring seasonal ingredients. This is immediately apparent from the lively, handwritten menu that fills every available space. The restaurant boasts a selection that will make you ponder, "Now, what shall I have today? What shall I order next time?" The restaurant is run by the husband and wife team, Yohei and Miho Ito. You might intend to just grab a quick bite of freshly fried food and a drink, but thanks to the couple's warm hospitality, you'll find yourself lingering for a long time before you know it.

[Assorted small dishes (5 items) 600 yen, Tuna High-Class Sashimi 600 yen, Yohei Sour 500 yen]
The value-packed 5-item small plate platter, where you can enjoy a little bit of everything, is available Monday through Wednesday only. The stylish minced meat with tempura batter scraps is also a popular menu item. The Yohei Sour is a refreshing drink with a hint of lemon added to matcha.
The owners are Yohei and Miho Ito, a married couple. Yohei works in the kitchen, while Miho handles the front of house, and their smooth workflow from taking orders to serving food demonstrates perfect teamwork.

Standing bar Umetsuba

Kenji Arita, the owner, enjoys bar-hopping in his private time. "Kita-Senju closes up surprisingly early at night. I wanted to have a place where people could easily come and drink even late at night, like a standing bar," he said, and opened his shop in January 2026. The interior is a hybrid space that combines the elements of a counter bar and a casual standing bar.

The drink menu features a standard lineup, but the owner says that his shochu highball, made with Kinmiya shochu and Mitsuya Ebisu tea, is "something I've never seen anywhere else, as far as I know." Mitsuya Ebisu tea is a specialty of Aki-Takata City, Hiroshima Prefecture, where Mr. Arita is from. It's a popular health tea in the area, and its natural sweetness and subtle bitterness make it an addictive flavor. Although it's only been open for a year, many people are already frequenting the bar in search of this unique drink. The food menu consists of items perfect for a late-night snack. The small portions, perfect for enjoying alone, are a thoughtful touch. "Ultimately, it's become a place I want to frequent myself (laughs)." Whether you're standing or sitting, tonight too, you'll find yourself drawn in by the cat sign.

This dish, inspired by Taiwanese Shenjiang, is guilt-free even late at night. The Hoppy (shochu) is served in a generous amount so you can savor it slowly.
"I want to create a shop where communication with customers is important," says Arita.

Beer Ma Kita-Senju

The front area is a standing bar, while the back is a bottle shop stocking approximately 1,000 kinds of domestic and international craft beers in cans and bottles. High chairs are also available for those who prefer to sit, but these are only available on weekdays. There are 10 types of draft beer on tap: two regular varieties and eight that change regularly. You can also enjoy drinks from the display case on the premises (corking fee from 220 yen).

While it attracts passionate beer lovers, manager Mitsuhiro Maki says that "the vast majority of customers are just dropping in casually." Its appeal lies in its flexibility, catering to various timings and situations, from meeting up with friends, having a pre-dinner drink, taking a break during a pub crawl, or having one last drink of the night. According to Maki, "Customers sitting next to each other often strike up conversations about local topics or exchange information about restaurants." There's an atmosphere where conversations naturally arise with a craft beer in hand, and before you know it, it's become like a local information hub, which is another interesting aspect.

[Beer Flight - 1,500 yen]
A beer flight lets you enjoy small portions of several beers that catch your eye. You can choose three from the 10 beers on tap that day.

[(From right) Shiga Kogen IPA (S) 700 yen, Little Beast Piña Colada Sour (S) 1,200 yen, Pretzel 300 yen]
Selected from the taps on any given day. Prices vary depending on the beer. Two sizes are available: large (400ml) and small (265ml). Food is mainly light snacks, and you can bring your own for 300 yen per person.
If you're unsure what to order, feel free to ask the staff for advice, or try our beer flight which offers a tasting of three different beers.

Zawasan Kita-Senju Sunroad Store

This is a sister store to "Tachinomi Zawasan," a standing bar that has lines forming even before it opens. The first floor is a standing bar counter where reservations are not accepted, while the second floor has table seating where reservations are possible. The convenience of being able to use it according to your mood and the number of people in your party is a great advantage.

Many customers frequent this branch, which also serves motsuyaki (grilled offal) and other Japanese dishes. "We've created a menu that's inspired by Japanese Italian cuisine so that customers can enjoy bar hopping," says manager Takazawa. Many fans are captivated by the spirit of using ingredients sourced from Adachi Market and creating a menu that changes daily, and the first floor is so popular that it's full shortly after opening. At peak times, the close proximity of customers can feel quite comfortable. The menu also features ingredients from famous local shops. "Shopping streets and markets are indispensable. We want to contribute to the revitalization of the area and liven up the town through our shop." As if to resonate with that sentiment, the standing bar counter was buzzing with energy on this day as well.

[Specialty: Beef tendon stewed in red wine 600 yen, "Franceya" shiso garlic toast 280 yen, glass of red wine from 450 yen]
The beef tendon stewed in red wine was a dish created to commemorate the opening. With a focus on connecting with the neighborhood, the menu also features a variety of items named after famous shops in Kita-Senju, including a local bakery.
[Specialty: Adachi Market Fried Horse Mackerel 380 yen, Specialty: Angel Shrimp Skewers 400 yen, Homemade Freshly Grated Sudachi Sour 520 yen]
We use horse mackerel that can be eaten raw as sashimi. It's thick, plump, and tender, and a must-try among our many specialties. Enjoy the angel shrimp whole. Our homemade sours also come in lemon and watermelon flavors.
Table seating is available on the second floor. The standing-only menu remains the same, but the option to sit down and enjoy your drinks at your leisure is also appealing.
