[Recommendation of Adachi sento]  Firstly, we introduce Senju, the area of sento or public baths.Kita-Senju

Senju area, including Kita-Senju, has flourished as a post town of Nikko Kaido and Oshu Kaido from the Edo period.
It was the first post station from Edo and was very crowded with travelers who began their journey to Nikko or Oshu.

Senju is the hot spot recently. It has been featured in TV program on showing the street, and became the location of NHK BS Premium drama, Senju Crazy Boys, which will be scheduled to be broadcast in February next year.

Many historic spots are left here and it is still lively place.
This time, we will introduce Daikoku-yu, or a public bath with the Showa retro style and nostalgic atmosphere located in such Kita-Senju!

It is a 10-minute walk to Nikko Kaido towards Soka direction from Kita-Senju West Exit and turn left, just before Senju-Shinbashi Brg., at the Senju-Kotobukicho junction, then you can see the fine building with temple-like appearance.

This is Daikoku-yu.

Although it has passed 89 years since it started business in 1927, it still remains the Showa retro style bathhouse. This is one of the king of the typical Adachi public baths.

Daikoku-yu Gaikan
Appearance of making stunning temple

The Karahafu (※) of the roof is very admirable, when you see it from the front.   The texture of the tile and wood makes you feel the history at the same time.

When the small neon sign of Daikoku-yu comes up at night, it is more filled with good Showa ambience.

※ Karahafu ... The characteristic roof with a style unique to Japan. It is common in traditional architecture, such as castles, temples and shrines. It is the curved gable with an arched center and a warped both ends.

Once you enter the building after taking off your shoes at the entrance, there is the watch seat and a rest space.
There are two massagers and a vending machine in a large space, also tatami room in the back.

Dressing room with a high ceiling, is very open. When you look up, you find it Lattice ceiling. The picture of seasonal flowers has been drawn on each lattice.

The landlady of Daikoku-yu told that she has spent much money anyway, because sento was a social place for the townspeople.

There are benches, television, magazines and comics in the dressing room. so you can also relax after a bath.

Once open the bathroom door from the dressing room, the great Mt. Fuji painting welcomes men   and the Shinkansen painting welcomes women.

Daikoku-yu Uchi-buro
Fascinating Mt. Fuji painting (Men bathroom)

The best view point of Daikoku-yu is the Mt. Fuji painting, which is perfect match for the bathroom with a light blue tone.
Even women can see it from the bathroom through the wall between both bathrooms. So please have a look.

There is an open-air bath in addition to normal bath and jacuzzi.

Daikoku-yu Roten-buro
The clean open-air bath is well kept.

You can definitely relax in the well-kept open-air bath with hot water smoothly flowing from the rock wall!

It has planted camellia trees out of the bathtub for both men and women, but for women, please look it up out of the tub since it has grown taller.

Daikoku-yu Kan-Tsubaki
Winter camellia in an open-air bath will heal you.

Daikoku-yu has been always loved by the locals and has retained traces of the Showa era.

It is the public bath where we especially recommend to those who want to relax and be healed.

We also recommend that you enjoy meals and drinks at the Kita-Senju shopping street after a bath.
