Bar Brass
Owner and bartender Junji Miyata opened his bar in 1996, in a barren area. Ahead of his 30th anniversary this fall, Miyata looks back on the years and talks about the changes that have taken place in his hometown of Kitasenju with a gentle and calm expression. A few years ago, the interior was renovated while retaining the classic atmosphere. The bar counter and back bar, made from African bubinga wood, remain, welcoming guests in a more sophisticated and sophisticated space.
While maintaining a traditional presence, offering everything from standard to original cocktails with style, the bar also creates mocktails with a rich imagination, and its versatility is testament to the bar's long history, even before going independent. From the way the bartender handles the shaker to the way he pours into a glass and cuts off the drops, every movement reveals a professional approach to his work. While being able to watch the bartenders up close from the counter seats is a luxurious experience, the versatility of the space is also part of the bar's charm. There are also four table seats, making it a great choice for those looking to enjoy conversation with like-minded friends.

This seasonal fruit cocktail is made with gin and cranberry juice and served in an elegant gold-rimmed glass. The wide, thin mouth brings out the sweet aroma, and the taste becomes dry as you drink it.

This visually stunning two-layered mocktail offers an excellent balance of color contrast and flavor. A layer of yuzu jam dissolved in orange juice is topped with churned matcha, creating a drink that truly captures the Japanese flavor. Of course, you can also enjoy the cocktail with gin or vodka.

WAVY DUNES
Malt whiskey and fresh fruit cocktails are the two signature items. This bar combines authentic bar quality with a stylish yet casual atmosphere. It is scheduled to open in November 2024. The owner, Yuji Yamaguchi, said that the reason for the all-glass facade is "to make it easier for people who are unfamiliar with bars to open the door without hesitation." If you're unsure what to order after seeing the extensive cocktail menu, he encourages you to tell him what fruit flavor you like, for example.
"You might unexpectedly find a cocktail you like, or make a new discovery, which will broaden your enjoyment of the bar," he said, recommending a hot buttered dram with a complex blend of spice aromas. Apparently, many women like to order hot cocktails that slowly soothe the soul, not just on cold days.
The name of the bar, "WAVY DUNES," comes from a phrase that appears in the original novel of the film "Cocktail," starring Tom Cruise. Literally translated, it means "wavy sand dunes," but the meaning behind the phrase can only be understood by listening to Yamaguchi's cocktail in hand.

A tropical cocktail that's popular all year round. Made with banana, passion fruit, and coconut liqueur, it's mixed with pineapple juice and orange juice for a pleasant taste.

This hot cocktail is made with butter and a unique blend of spices, carefully kneaded together with dark rum. The aroma and flavor changes with every sip, making it a drink you'll want to savor slowly.

Bar Sora [Space] (Bar Sora)
"Takenotsuka is a warm, local town," says owner and bartender Takahiro Otomo. He says that while serving customers, he senses a strong sense of local pride and an atmosphere that welcomes people from other towns without discrimination.
Located on the second floor of the building, the space resembles a secret hideout for adults, with just the right distance between the bartender and the guests, and between the guests themselves, creating a comfortable atmosphere where everyone can enjoy conversation. In addition to the impressive display on the back bar, bottles of domestic gin dominate the counter, delighting gin lovers. They also plan to add more tequilas to their selection in the future.
Otomo-san jumped into the bar world from a sales position 14 years ago. "I've always loved bars, and secretly dreamed of becoming a bartender." Perhaps it's his friendly personality, who speaks with a sense of fun, that gives the place such a relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy to drop in. This is a must-visit spot for any night out in Takenotsuka.

This original cocktail is based on kumquat liqueur. The gentle bitterness of grapefruit and tonic water is exquisite. The slightly romantic name for this cocktail was apparently suggested by a female customer.

A short cocktail based on strawberries and Calvados, balanced with strawberry liqueur and lemon juice. It has a rich flavor that goes beyond just the sweet aroma.

ROCK BAR 7th-chord
At night, it operates as a rock bar where you can enjoy authentic cocktails and whiskey, and during the day it operates as a cafe serving home-roasted coffee and light meals. The owner, Mr. Sato, chose to set up his shop in a quiet alley at the east exit of Kita-Senju Station, rather than in the crowded west exit area of the station. He says he likes the location, which is a hidden gem despite being close to the station.
The bar has counter seats for solo diners, as well as sofa and table seats for dates and groups, and its versatile space is one of the reasons it has been loved for so long. Since opening in 2010, the bar has been attracting music lovers of all ages, but it also focuses on its food menu. In fact, it's not just music lovers who come here, as many people come for the drinks and food.
There are many original cocktails and mocktails, and if you tell them your preferred taste and image, they will make recommendations. Of course, you can also request your favorite song. As it is a lively bar where you can enjoy music, drinks, and food, there are surely some people who would rather not let others know about its existence.

This original short cocktail is based on tequila and Zubrowka, and combines strong alcohol with grapefruit juice and lemon juice for a refreshing taste.

An original cocktail based on white rum. Mixed in half tonic water and half soda, it's a sonic-style drink with a hint of citrus.
