Kichijo-in temple

Name of facility Kichijo-in temple
Overview It is a temple of the Buzan school of Shingon sect and is called Fuchiesan Kichijoin Seikoku-ji temple. The foundation year of the temple has two options both 1288 and 1305. During the Edo period, its head temple was Ninna-ji Temple in Kyoto, and it was also a main temple having 33 branch temples. In the Meiji era, there was a movement to wipe out the relationship between a head temple and branch temples, and this temple became the branch temple of Hase-dera Temple in Nara. The principal image is the sitting statue of Kongokai Dainichi Nyorai, which is said to have been made in the Edo period. Given some territories from the Edo Shogunate, it was used as a resting place when the Tokugawa Shogunate hunted with a falcon. There is also an Ajiro Kago (palanquin) with the Aoi crest that was used when the chief priest visited Edo Castle. The former temple gate built in the Edo period, 1742 (now relocated as Jonenbo temple gate, Adachi registered tangible cultural property), and the bell tower built in 1783 are left. In addition, you can see many stone structures such as Hokyointo and Koshinto in the precincts.
