Overview After the Great Kanto Earthquake, 14 temples have moved to Iko from central Tokyo and various places. The 13 temples (Choan-ji, Zenku-ji, Joko-ji, Houju-ji, Eiju-in, Shoraku-ji cemetery, Sennen-ji, Shoan-ji, Toyo-ji, Hongyo-ji, Jofuku-ji, Igyo-in, Rennen-ji) were gathered in one area of Higashi-Iko 4-chome (the former Ikohazama) and created Teramachi or temple town community. There is also Togaku-ji Temple, which is famous for Utagawa Hiroshige in Ikohoncho 1-chome, a little away from temple town. You can visit all temples, including the oldest temple in Iko, Ogen-ji Temple located in Ikohoncho 2-chome.
