[Kita-Senju Station Karasampo] A PR poster for the Senju area appears at JR Kita-Senju Station [Senju Shichifukujin]

  • 2021年12月27日
  • 2022年3月3日

With the cooperation of JR Kita-Senju Station, the sightseeing PR posters for the Senju area, etc. posted on the platform (6 spots) of Kita-Senju Station have been renewed!

Senju on the day you want to start

JR北千住駅に千住地域のPRポスターが登場

This time, the scene is Senju's shrine.
Senju is actually a town with many shrines and temples from old times.
This time, the poster shows the visit of the 7 shrines that carry out the "Senju Shichifukujin Tour" held every New Year under the title of "Senju's Power Spot" .
"I want to take a step forward in 2022"
If you look around the Senju Shichifukujin, the gods may push your back.

The posters also show "something" with the motif of the god enshrined in each temple, so it's fun to imagine the image of that god from "something"!

Temples which carry out Senju Shichifukujin Tour

Seven Lucky Gods Tour is said to be beneficial if you visit each temple to pray for longevity and good luck during the first seven days of the year.

You can collect red stamps at each temple after buying a Goshuin book or a Shikishi paper.
It is said that you will escape seven dangers and get seven luck when you decorate your house with the board stamped seven Goshuin for one year.

In the New Year, how about strolling in the streets of Senju while collecting seven lucky gods ♪

"Senju Shichifukujin Tour" This course is about 2 to 3 hours on foot. (Except worship time)
[Worship period] From New Year's Day to 7th
[visit time] from 9am to 4pm
[Access] walk from Kita-Senju Station of JR Joban Line and the others
Daikokuten: Senju Motohikawa-jinja Shrine (3-22 Senju, Adachi)
Hoteison: Okawacho Hikawa-jinja Shrine (12-3 Senju-Okawacho, Adachi)
 Jurojin: Motojuku-jinja Shrine (33-4 Senju-Motomachi, Adachi)
Ebisuten: Senju-jinja Shrine (24-1 Senju-Miyamotocho, Adachi)
Bishamonten: Hachiman-jinja Shrine (3-8 Senju-Miiyamotocho, Adachi)
Fukurokuju: Kawaracho Inari-jinja Shrine (10-13 Senju-Kawaracho, Adachi)
 Benzaiten: Nakacho Hikawa-jinja Shrine (48-2 Senju-Nakacho, Adachi)

Daikokuten: Senju Motohikawa-jinja Shrine
(3-22 Senju, Adachi)

Daikokuten

[Daikokuten] Blessing, rich harvest of five grains , etc.
A god who is often depicted with "straw rice bag" and "launched gavel".
Speaking of a straw rice bag and rich harvest of five grains ... Yes, rice!
That's why I prepared a huge rice ball for photography!
This rice ball uses 800g of rice cooked by a rice shop in Senju.

The old shrine where the statue of Daikokuten is enshrined is a valuable building designated as a cultural property of the ward.
During the period of Senju Shichifukujin (1/1 to 1/7), you can see the precious Daikokuten statue.

Hoteison: 5-chome Okawacho Hikawa-jinja Shrine
(12-3 Senju-Okawacho, Adachi)

Hoteison
[Hoteison] Happiness will come in to a merry house, Happy married couples, etc.
Speaking of Hoteison drawn with a smiling face and a drum belly, it is a "big bag", isn't it?
It is said that this bag is filled with many treasures and people's gratitude and compassion.

At 5-chome Okawacho Hikawa-jinja Shrine, where you can meet such Hoteison, please pay attention to "Fujizuka"!
You can actually climb this Fujizuka, which is a tangible folk cultural property registered in Adachi.

 Jurojin: Motojuku-jinja Shrine
(33-4 Senju-Motomachi, Adachi)

 Jurojin

[Jurojin] Stop senility, longevity, etc.
Jurojin is characterized by a long head and a white beard.
This time, I used "Old man's mask" as an item.

Motojuku-jinja Shrine is a locally loved shrine.
The fallen leaves are carefully swept away, and you can worship comfortably even though it is small, so why not take this opportunity to visit?

Ebisuten:
Senju-jinja Shrine (24-1 Senju-Miyamotocho, Adachi)

Ebisuten

[Ebisuten] Wishing, prosperous business, etc.
The god drawn with "fishing rod" and "sea bream" is Ebisuten, isn't it?
This time I took a picture with "Taiyaki" ♪

The Ebisuten statue enshrined at Senju-jinja Shrine is actually a little famous as a "rotating statue".
Men turn it to left, women turn it to right three times, and after praying, stroke the statue's body three times with a white handkerchief.
It seems that the benefits vary depending on the part of the body you are stroking, so please visit to actually stroke the Ebisuten statue.

Bishamonten: Hachiman-jinja Shrine
(3-8 Senju-Miyamotocho, Adachi)

Bishamonten

[Bishamonten] Fulfillment of power, warding off evil
Bishamonten who wears a helmet with a halberd.
I took a picture with a Japanese sword (replica) to confront the dignified appearance.

This shrine is one of the legends of the Oshu subjugation by Minamoto-no Yoriyoshi and Yoshiie, which has remained in various places in Adachi. It is that when Minamoto-no Yoshiie crossed the Sumidagawa River, the white flags were put up on both banks of the river to mark the place. The shrine is associated with this story.

Fukurokuju: Kawaracho Inari-jinja Shrine
(10-13 Senju-Kawaracho, Adachi)

Fukurokuju

[Fukurokuju] Good luck, healthy longevity, etc.
Fukurokuju is drawn with "crane" and "turtle" which are symbols of longevity.
It might be a good idea to keep a paper crane in your bag after that.

At Kawaracho Inari-jinja Shrine, where the statue of Fukurokuju is located, there is one of the largest guardian dogs in Adachi.
Please feel the size nearby.

 Benzaiten: Hikawa-jinja Shrine
(48-2, Senju-Nakacho, Adachi)

 Benzaiten

[Benzaiten] Music / Entertainment, Virtue, etc.
Benzaiten is the only female god in Seven Lucky Gods and also known as the god of performing arts.
People who aspire to music and art want to benefit from it.

The Benzaiten statue is enshrined in a back space of Hikawa-jinja Shrine in Senju-Nakacho.
You cannot see it closely, but there is a pond where carps swim nearby, so you can worship while enjoying the scenery.

The way to pray is "bow twice, clap your hands twice and bow once"

The basis of worship is "two bows, two claps and one bow".
Bow twice, clap your hands twice, and bow once at the end.
In addition, there are etiquette and rules for worshiping, such as "Bow once before going through the torii gate" and "Walk avoiding the middle of the approach".
Good to know how to worship comfortably so that you can feel radiant.

* The manners of worshiping may differ depending on each shrine.
