Declaration of Sister City Relationship

In 1983, to realize its goal of becoming "A cultural city connected to the world", Adachi City published an English language photo magazine ADACHI with a view of establishing sister city relations. the magazine, the City of Belmont expression interest in conducting international exchanges as the basis for establishing sister city relations.

On October 1, 1984, Belmont and Adachi entered a sister city relationship with the photo magazine acing as matchmaker.

Progress of Exchange Program

In 1986, the two cities began exchanging student delegations. In 2005, Adachi organized a citizens' exchange tour to Belmont , further expanding the scope of the relationship.

The two cities have exchanged citizen delegations in 1989, 1994, 1999 and 2004 to commemorate the 5 th, 10 th, 15 th and 20 th anniversaries of the sister city relationship, respectively.

In 1992, Adachi welcomed an international relations advisor from Belmont to be further strengthened ties between the two cities. In addition, exchanges have been acquired between boys baseball and soccer teams as well as Adachi's boys and girls choirs.

July 1993 saw the opening of 'Belmont Park', situated in Umejima, Adachi City. In the park, there is an exhibit hall where many gifts and photographs presented to Adachi from Belmont are on public view. Here, visitors can learn about Belmont and the history of sister city exchanges between Adachi.

In Belmont, there is an 'Adachi Park' adjacent to Hardy Park along the Swan River. Created in 2004, the park was designed with a theme and is ideal for picnics and walks.
